Last week there was a recycling presentation and we saw all about how you don’t have to just throw everything away after you are done with it. You can learn to recycle the stuff that you didn’t think could be made into something different. We saw a pencil case with empty Kool-Aid bottles in the front of back of it. We learned that if you eat a banana and you throw the peel under the bush and after about 3 days it might just completely disappear. We also saw some slides of some landfills that have all of our garbage in it.
We are also learning how fast a cup of 200 milliliters of water can evaporate so far we have been doing it for about a month now, and it is not evaporating as fast as most of us thought it would be. Some people thought it would take about two or three hours to evaporate and some people thought it would take a couple of weeks. The water evaporates at a slow pace one day it evaporated fifteen milliliters and some days it only will evaporate three milliliters.
We are playing football in gym and they are teaching us to throw and catch a football. We are playing fun games to help us learn more about how to throw and catch the football. In art we did water colors and we finished our Victorian style homes art project.
In math we are learning fun ways to multiply like doubling and halving. Doubling and halving is where you double a number and halve a number so it is easier to multiply a number. We are also learning partial products. Partial products is where you split a factor in two if it is hard to multiply then you get two answers and you add the answers up to get the product like 50 times 99 so you can do 50 times 9 then 50 times 90 then you add the numbers up to get the product. Can’t wait to find out more!
