This week we are doing our Math Facts quiz. Which is Addition, Subtraction, Division, and Multiplication. We have to answer all of the questions under four minutes and you get extra recess for thirty minutes, but if you get six problems or more wrong you have to study your math facts inside with all of the people who did not pass. We do it every quarter and each time you have less and less time.
Last week we were doing book talks in our classroom. Book talks are where you have a really good book to talk about and you put your name and the book you will be talking about on a piece of paper. Then Mrs.Kinder will call your name and you have to sit with the book in your hand and summarize up the whole book without spoiling the ending to your classmates. Then when you say your summary of the book aloud you have to say the author, what genre it is, and who you recommend it to. Then Mrs.Kinder will check your name off the list and she will call someone elses name that also signed up.
Our class has started a new unit in Science it is about Minerals. We are learning about a Mineral’s hardness, streak, crystal form, luster, and if it has cleavage or fracture. The hardest Mineral is a Diamond and the softest Mineral is Talc. The crystal shape of a Mineral is either a Square Prism, Square Pyramid, or a Hexagonal Prism. The luster of a Mineral is either an earthy luster, glassy luster, or a metallic luster.
Tryouts for our Talent Show are coming up. You can do anything you want for the tryouts but then when the judges see all of us after auditions they will have to decide who got in and who won’t be performing. After about a week after tryouts they put up a list of who got in. Everyone doesn’t have to audition, it is optional. People who didn’t get in can come see and watch with their parents.
